As we all know August the windy month is also known as Women’s month since we all know the history behind 9 August 1956, more than 20 000 South African women of all races staged a march on the Union Buildings in protest against the proposed amendments to the Urban Areas Act of 1950, commonly referred to as the “pass laws”. Women’s day was born!
This women’s day we (Senzi Zulu and I) decided to host an event for the special women/ ladies in our beautiful town of Newcastle in celebration of women’s day in women’s month.
We had planned to host 50 ladies only but we ended up with 100 of them! The theme for the event was All black and a headwrap held at Vulintaba Country Hotel http://www.vulintaba.co.za on the 09 August 2016 under a slogan ‘Wathinta abafazi wathinta imbokodo’. We had speakers Mrs. Nhlanhla Ngcoya & Mrs. Ngcobo for motivation, a young lady by the name of Bongiwe as our melody lady and Meryl Manzoor form the HoneyBee Beauty Bar who gave the ladies a tutorial on a basic makeup look.
The day was filled with love and fun as we danced through the whole event, hugs were shared, numbers exchanged most of it all we enjoyed this women’s day hence there are few activities and events being organised for ladies in Newcastle. We dinned on a three course meal, ladies received jars filled with assorted chocolates and sweet in them with a happy women’s day note hanging on them and tied up with the ribbon.
The day was attended by women who are in different criteria, self-employed, entrepreneurs, who are on the top ladder at their work. The event was catered for every lady and they made sure they enjoyed themselves o the fullest.
It was beautiful pictures do not lie and a successful one too.
